Issey Miyake‘s designer, Dai Fujiwara,?drew inspiration from wide array of ?multi-ethnic influences with his new collection, “News Mix”. East meets west, ?north meets south, as his mix of expressions creates a modern aesthetic bringing a natural harmony in it’s eccentricity. ?Infusions of rich colors, tribal prints, celtic motifs and Japanese dyeing techniques showed a real sense of blending eastern and western fashion trends, the random fusion created a natural kaleidosopic appeal.

Metallic appliques and short, multi-colored dresses were the focus of Atsuro Tayama’s collection.? Delicate draping and sheer fabrics were used to create elegant bubble dresses as well as simple silhouettes. Embroidery and hand ripped fabrics gave another element of aesthetic to this seasons collection. Black puffy sleeved suits and tight tapered pants were also presented but took a secondary role next to the heavily pleated dresses.?

Beginning with an ultra futuristic feel, Gaspard Yurkievich experimented with his own version of prim and proper. The simple glittery black base on the runway was the perfect backdrop to show this eclectic collection. Starting out with ultra-modern dresses, metallic fabrics and halter necklines, the show quickly changed direction and went for a school girl look with vest inspired mini-skort dresses and knee high stockings. The show ended on a more mature note and moved towards belted jackets, metallic beads layered over tiered dresses and front pleated pants.

The sister duo of Etcetura chose Ms. Sabiha Cocken, the first female fighter pilot, as their muse for their Spring/Summer 2010 collection. “Lady Aviator” opened with ulrta feminine silhouettes that showcased stunning architectural framework alluding to structure and military. The color palette of baby blue, peach and white gave a great counterbalance to the harsh lines and gave the collection just the right amount of softness. Sequins, leather detailing and ribbed embroidery highlighted each piece in the collection. The royal bule sequined sheer jumper was one of the stand-out pieces towards the end of the show.
