PARIS FASHION WEEK READY TO WEAR 2010: VANESSA BRUNO, VERONIQUE LEROY, ZUCCA

VANESSA BRUNO

Drawing inspiration from dancers’ warm-up attires, the Vanessa Bruno’s show offered layered and wrapped outfits in knitted, clingy fabrics with tasteful cutouts. Floaty chiffon dresses, patchwork heeled boots with fur trim and ribbed cardigans were abound on the runway. For outerwear, the long gray shearling with a knitted hem would be faultless for a snowy day, or a drop-waist camel leather trench coat would pair well with any earthy-toned ensemble. Bruno’s take on this season’s “must have” item, the mixed media jacket, combined gray flannel with a thick leather hem and ribbed knit backing; while her innovative blazers had an added strap to help it stay put if it were to be worn tossed over your shoulder. When all was said and done, Bruno proved to have a strong winter collection.

VERONIQUE LEROY

Light one-piece leotards, short shorts and white stilettos aren’t necessarily something you would expect to see at a Fall fashion show however these were all staple pieces in the Veronique Leroy’s F/W 2010-11 runway show. Also presented were gorgeous outerwear? options complete with fur trim and elegant blouses with raised shoulders. Bright corals, soft pinks and gentle biscuit shades were paired in lovely skirt and blouse combinations. Although the collection lacked any form of collective fluidity, many of the individual pieces would be perfect to complete a? chic and feminine look.

ZUCCA

It was all about the outerwear at this fashion forward collection presented by Zucca. This season, Japanese designer Akira Onozuka managed to incorporate several trends cohesively into one show including military inspired jackets, animal print, cocoon jackets and tribal prints. Presenting both women’s and menswear was a wise decision, showing versions of similarly styled clothing for both sexes. Particularly strong was the tulip skirted fur lined jacket in animal print and the plaid jacket topping the solid color of the mix-and-match skirt and top. Though very avant garde and refreshing in the label’s designs, we found the puffer jacket enveloped in a miniature tote bag to be completely convenient for everyday use.
