PARIS FASHION WEEK READY TO WEAR 2010: MARITHE & FRANCOIS GIRBAUD, PAUL AND JOE, PEACHOO + KREJBERG, TIM VAN STEENBERGEN, TSUMORI CHISATO

MARITHE & FRANCOIS GIRBAUD

Husband and wife design duo Marithe and Francois Girbaud presented a well tailored Fall 2010/11 collection of casually draped trousers matched with quality tailored jackets and full denim coats. A combination of textiles and details added rich variety to the line, with each red-lipped model wearing a mask or headpiece of some sort; creating an air of mystery.

PAUL AND JOE

Retro, preppy-chic was the predominant theme at this seasons Paul and Joe ready- to-wear runway show. Opening with knee-high sheepskin boots and a winter gray shearling jacket really set the mood for the affair. Sixties-inspired Courreges coats and preppy jumbo bow collars were shown alongside mod printed mini-dresses. Particularly innovative was the winter “Wonder Woman” look with fur lined mini shorts, white wool tights and the matching fur lined cape jacket. Thick knitted headbands and woolen tights completed the looks and added a modern twist.

PEACHOO + KREJBERG

Design duo Peachoo Datwani and Roy Krejberg premiered their awe-inspiring Peachoo + Krejberg F/W 2010-11 collection on the catwalk this year at Paris Fashion Week. Alternating between grays and black, the team had a truly unique take on ready to wear fashion. Gorgeous silk dresses were heavily embellished with hand beading, floor length feathered jackets, patent leather leggings and knee-high stockings were all flawlessly executed in some very? sultry combinations.

TIM VAN STEENBERGEN

Antwerp born designer Tim Van Steenbergen put most of his focus in outerwear for his Fall 2010/11 women’s collection. Architecturally structured jackets, meanswear- inspired coats, draped dresses and the occasional knee length skirt were all paired with matching utility belts and black pumps or chic leather boots.? Each polished look was finished off with models sporting hair nets, modernized cat eye glasses and bright red lips.

TSUMORI CHISATO

An onslaught of colors, bold patterns and stripes were paraded down the runway at the Tsumori Chisato ready to wear show. Flowing dresses in bold paisley prints, leopard-spotted bodysuits in sheer fabrics and over-sized jackets in multi-colored stripes gave an almost “clownish” look to the collection. Models sporting heavy eye and cheek makeup did not help to alleviate the situation. All in all, most of the pieces were inaccessible for the average woman’s everyday wear, however a few of the intricately sequined silk shirts, and wide woven belts would be nice additions to any fashionista’s wardrobe.
