TATYANA MURRAY SCULPTURE / OPEN STUDIO EVENT

TATYANA MURRAY SCULPTURE / OPEN STUDIO EVENT

On ?May 15, sculptor Tatyana Murray opened her Brooklyn studio to visitors to check out her latest work.

Her sculptures and wall reliefs are “explorations of time and light, combining the most advanced technology with classical drawing technique. ?Animated with light the impressions emerge and recede within their frame.” Her sculptures are essentially etchings in plexi-glass highlighted with refracted light, creating unique 3-dimensional visions of trees and organic elements. ?The large scale works created a dramatic impression; one immediately could visualize them as part of an architectural exploration other than just free standing sculptures.

“The eye passes through the layers of glass-like sheets, the way memory passes through time. The 3 dimensional image is suspended within the clear block, creating a delicate tension between the solid and the ethereal, presence absence, life and death, nature and artifice, the traditional and the experimental, nostalgia and potential, the past and the future.”
